Water/Coolant in TDC connector.

Frequency

Symptoms

MIL on with code P1361. Engine will not rev over about 2500 RPM.

Cause

Water/Coolant has entered the TDC connector. This can happen due to a bad seal at the connector or when the connector is disconnected for timing belt/water pump repair.

Test Procedure

Disconnect the TDC sensor connector at the front of the engine. Blow it dry with compressed air. Reconnect and test drive vehicle to see if problem persists.

Correction

Clean and dry TDC sensor connector.
