10/15/08 Broken wire at purge solenoid

Evap failures can be among some of the difficult problems to diagnose. This epsecially holds true when the fault is intermittent. When dealing with a P0443 or P0455 on a Mazda MPV, be sure to check the wiring at the purge solenoid.

(12/31/08)   Updates to Forum Server

Happy New Year!

The forum server will be taken down at 12 P.M. on Wednesday December 31 for maintenance and upgrades. The forums will be back up no later than Thursday afternoon (possibly much sooner than that). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

(9/03/08)   Contribution is up and new features are around the corner

Content is still growing on a daily basis. More and more technicians are clicking the 'fixed-it' links on the vehicle selection page and giving us valuable information about the repairs they completed. It only takes a few seconds to add your comments to a tip or tell us about a car you recently fixed. A few seconds spent clicking the little green check mark or red X in your search history helps us rank our search results, and improve the accuracy of our content. Remember every tip we have started with someone like you working on a car. Adding your feedback adds your experience to our tip database and helps out the community.

Thanks to all those that contributed last month!

We have also been busy round the clock lately, preparing the way for some new features. Several updates to the site have been focused on setting the stage for those updates. Keep an eye on us over the next couple of months and you will see some exciting changes.

(7/14/08)   New features on the way

In addition to tweaks for the recently added help request feature, D-tips.com is proud to announce more new features that should be implemented in the next couple of weeks. Until now, the only tips in the database have been drivability related. Most D-tips members have probably noticed the service warnings and vehicle specific tips sections at the bottom of the main vehicle page. We are in the process of filling out the database to provide non drivability tips on things like anti-lock brakes, air conditioning systems and cooling systems. The service warnings section is there to warn you about potential problems and mistakes that are frequently made when performing repairs. Both of these sections will be open to user input so that our members can provide useful tips and service warnings to their fellow techs in the field. Other new features include the ability to upload waveforms and pictures that you wish to share. As evidenced by feedback on the tips in the D-tips database, tips with supporting pictures and waveforms are by far the most popular. Giving our members the ability to share pictures that can enhance a tip is a bonus for everyone.

(5/26/08)   Help request feature is open

The latest site update inclueds a new feature making it easy to open a help request on a problem vehicle. When performing a search, you will be automatically taken to the help request submission page if there are no matches for your search in the D-tips database. If your search does yield results but does not contain the answers you are looking for, click on the button at the bottom of the search results page to open a new help request. The help request will be automatically posted in the forums where other technicians can help. You will be emailed when someone responds, but will need to log into the forums to read the responses.

The forums are also now capable of RSS feeds making it easy for you to keep up with the latest postings. Click the orange RSS button at the top of your browser to subscribe. There were also a few minor bug fixes, including the print view bug that makes printing tips a little easier.

Thank you, D-tips.com Staff

(4/28/08)   Content continues to grow

We would like thank all of our users who continue to submit tips and help keep the D_tips database growing, but this month we give special thanks to Scott and Bob of The Driveability Guys for some great tip submission with pictures and scope images to go along with them. We would also like to remind everyone that there are two ways to submit a tip. Either click the submit button on the D-tips tool box or post in the Tips Needed forum. If you would like to discuss the information you have to share, then post it in the discussion forum for feedback and various opinions from other driveability technicians. Once again, thank you all and keep up the good work!

(3/22/08)   Happy Easter

The crew at D-tips.com would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter. We hope you all have a chance to enjoy the day with friends and family.

We would also like to thank Sherri and the ASA crew for a great show and training seminar in Kansas City this year. The Vision Expo is #1 in the nation for many reasons. Top notch training and excellent coordination of events are just two examples. Visit the forums to see some pictures of the trade show and the D-tips.com booth.

(1/16/08)   Mitsubishi Mode $06 complete

This week has brought some major site updates including some new content and some graphical and interface changes. Mitsubishi Mode $06 definitions are up and running. Hyundai Mode$06 is now in development and should be ready soon.

As per request of many of our users, if you are logged into the main web site, you will be automatically logged into the forum server when clicking the forums link on the D-tips toolbox.

The most noticeable changes are the new graphics and interface that you will find on many pages. The vehicle look-up page has a new interface that allows you to easily recall a previous search, leave feedback or add new information to an existing tip or even include information for a new tip that is not currently in the database. There are also some changes to the search results page making it easier to view and interface with.

(1/03/08)   Happy New Year

We would like to wish everyone a happy new year!!!

Be sure to check out the latest article in the articles section. Glen Beneard has put together a very informative article on the new Ford Escape Hybrid. This article is a must read for anyone interested in the latest technology from the Ford production line.
